Autumn Term 2021

Welcome back to KS2 - Nessa Class.

This term our enquiry question will be: 'Is Change inevitable?'. During this term we will be looking at changes, are they good or bad changes and can they be stopped. This question will run through many of our wider curriculum subjects and where it doesn't fit wider curriculum will be taught separately.

To begin with our class focus will revolve around poetry and poetic styles which tell stories and describe journeys. The children will develop knowledge of patterns, styles and techniques and finish by writing a range of poems linked to climate change. They will then learn discussion and persuasion techniques to make a case for doing more to slow down climate change. Our class book this term is: 'The Last Wild' by Piers Torday. We will use this story to inspire us to write our own story set in a climate changed future.
Geography: Climate change, biomes, water cycle and change of land use over time
Science: In science the children will be studying and investigating changes in materials; what causes them, how can they be speeded up and are they reversible.
Computing: In computing the children will develop coding skills through Scratch. They will use commands, functions and loops to create simulations of pollution and how it will cause change. Using variables, the children will develop quizzes about the Arctic and climate change.
Our PE focus this term will be invasion games such as Tag Rugby.
