Behaviour

At Blisland Primary Academy, we believe that children learn effectively in a safe and secure environment. We believe that good behaviour is the cornerstone of the school curriculum and this is reflected in the ethos of the school.

We recognise that good behaviour underpins access to the curriculum and we strive to develop a quality learning environment and appropriately differentiated curriculum, which allows for equal access to a relevant, broad and balanced curriculum.

We have high expectations of behaviour and we regard it the responsibility of all within school to be consistent and fair with their interactions. We value the contributions of Governors, Parents, Carers and Children and are seeking ways to continue to develop their involvement in the implementation of the school behaviour policy.

We are committed to the development of our practice, within the framework of the policy to ensure that the procedures and systems are effective, thus minimising problems by using appropriate rewards and sanctions to promote good behaviour.

We use a Restorative Justice approach in resolving conflict successfully. Resolution of conflicting opinions and promoting positive assertive behaviours are areas which affect our school ethos. We believe the teaching of good behaviour is our joint responsibility and we share this with all members of our school community.

Our behaviour policy is underpinned by our Relationship Policy, which follows the Trauma Informed Schools approach to developing good relationships between all stakeholders. The Head of School is an accredited Trauma Informed Schools Practitioner, and another member of the teaching staff is undergoing training currently. These principles, which underpin our philosophy, to ensure that all children within our school are able to access the curriculum, are supported by research into effective primary education.
