Starting Reception

Welcome to school, welcome to Blisland!

Welcome to Blisland! We are delighted to welcome you and your child to our Reception class.
Our school is a thriving, growing school with fabulous access to outdoors – both on site and in the local area.
Reception is part of a mixed age class, spending time in both Kensa class in the main school and our Early Years unit by the field.
Mrs Andrea Harrison teaches Mon to Wed and Mrs Charlotte Powdrill is the teacher on Thursday and Fridays, working alongside is Miss Cullip. Mrs Julie Pearce and Miss Lily Woods will be in the Early Years unit, joined by Miss Cullip when Reception children are there. This ensures that there is continuity for the children and their learning.

Your child will be able to access both indoors and outdoors throughout the day and will learn through child initiated play (expertly supported by adults) and staff led guided sessions. Every day children will be taught phonics (the sounds that letters make) through a structured programme,  as well as accessing all areas of the EYFS curriculum across the week.

We will, as always, support you and your child to ensure a smooth transition back into school. If there is anything you wish to discuss or inform us of, please do email in the first instance as we can then arrange contact by phone if you wish.
